What's the best way to quickly raise money for my wedding?

My fiance and I would like to get married this fall due to his father being terminally ill. We both lost our jobs over a month ago. I recently started working again, but he's still looking for work, so we're extremely short on funds. We're going to have just our family and a few friends at the ceremony and reception (total 40 people) and are planning the cheapest, elegant wedding possible. What suggestions do you have for raising money on short notice? Note that my we can't ask our parents for help, we want to avoid a courthouse wedding, we don't want more debt and we don't need reception advice (already set there). Thanks!
