Does this guy friend like me?

So i have a guy friend who i have know for a while. He was going out with someone else, but they just broke up. Anyways so he always is saying hi to me, constantly picking me out of the crowd to talk to, walks with me to my cl even though its not by his, walks with me to my bus (his locker is by mine so we walk together), and one time we were both looking at a window and i didnt c him so we almost hit our heads together and he got all embaressed and turned red and said s-s-s-ooo-rrry and stuff like that? How will i know if he is going to ask me out? Is it weird to go out with a guy friend? Also, i kinda knew the girl he was dating before... would that be bad to go out with him now? also, he is sooo not who i pictured myself to be dating, but idk. and advice? HELP PLEASE!!!!
