I really don't know for sure. You said that he had untreated bipolar disorder? It could have something to do with that. I say, either try talking to him, or one of your 'mutual' friends. Maybe you did something you didn't realize would hurt him, I don't know. I'm not accusing anyone, please don't be offended. Ask him what the problem is, just try to talk to him. I think it could have something to do with his bipolar, especially if anything like this happened before (?). Sorry, and good luck.
